TUDOR PRINCE DATE CHRONOGRAPH 79280
TUDOR CHRONOGRAPH 79280
WHY THIS WATCH - FULLY SERVICED, 'B' SERIAL, UNPOLISHED ORIGINAL CASE
THINGS TO MENTION - NO ORIGINAL PAPERS
One of the last ranges of Tudor watches to bear resemblance of those from parent company Rolex. They rounded out the vision of founder Hans Wilsdorf to create a brand equal to Rolex in design and performance but at a more affordable price point. The 792xx range continues with the aesthetic of the 94xxx and 791xx chronograph ranges but with a slimmer case profile. Gone are the 'Big Block' style case sides and in are slightly rounded, narrower sides giving the watch more wearable dimensions. The 792xx's offered the same dial and bezel combinations of the 791xx's, but later added more dial colour/finish options, different case material options and the, sometimes divisive, TIGER (Woods) collaboration. Regardless of dial and bezel combination, the influence of the Rolex Daytona is obvious throughout. We wouldn't go as far as to say these are collectors pieces just yet, but we'd wager a safe bet that they will be in years to come, and will likely continue their rise in value.
This example is offered in its original, unpolished condition on the original Oyster bracelet, showing reasonable signs of wear and accompanied by the original box. The watch is a very rare 'B' serial prince date 79280, the last of any Tudor to bare the Rolex crown and caseback (before moving to Tudor branded parts). The valjoux 7750 movement has been fully serviced in preparation for the sale by our highly qualified watchmaker and comes with service warranty cards.
